How to care for your Headstone/Plaque/Concrete

Basic Cleaning Process

  1. Use a soft-bristle brush such as a nailbrush or toothbrush (never wire brushes or power washers)
  2. Mix water with detergent (avoid harsh chemicals)
  3. Gently scrub in circular motions
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water
  5. Pat dry with a clean cloth
  6. Check for cracks or chips and get professional advice

Deep Cleaning (by material)

  • Granite – Can handle a mix of water and mild dish soap or a specialized granite cleaner.
  • Marble, Limestone, Sandstone – Remove moss or lichen with a specialized biological anti acid cleaner.
  • Bronze – Use a mix of water and baking soda, then polish with a soft cloth.
  • Concrete – Wet well, use stiff bristle brush.
